Fertilization

Our blends of nutrients and soil amendments are not simply designed to promote canopy growth but to strengthen and improve the overall health of the tree from the roots up, delivering healthier, greener, more aesthetically-pleasing trees and shrubs. Our uniquely developed mixtures promote stability and growth for trees efficiently and safely, without the worry of harmful chemicals that some companies use and can be damaging to the surrounding environment.

Our unique mixtures combine macro- and micro-nutrients, root growth stimulators, soil conditioners, beneficial biotics (both mycorrhizal fungi and rhizobacteria), and organic materials to cultivate the optimum natural growth environment.

Fertilization, Soil Application, and Deep Root Injection Services

Any tree located in either a residential or commercial landscape will benefit from fertilization. In other words, if your tree is not currently located inside of a forest, it will need help sourcing the nutrition necessary to thrive.

Fertilization services are critical for trees that:
  • Have been affected by harsh environmental conditions such as heat and drought
  • Are struggling to produce growth or recover from insects or disease
  • Have been stunted by limited root space (i.e., parking lots, sidewalks, fencing)
  • Have been affected or damaged by construction-related activities in the area
Fertilization services include:
  • Soil conditioners that help break down heavily compacted soil
  • Root stimulators delivered to promote more effective root systems
  • A complete combination of balanced macro- and micro-nutrients – quantities are adjusted seasonally.
  • Mycorrhizal fungi are naturally growing additions to the soil that form a symbiotic relationship with the tree’s existing natural root system to speed nutrient absorption, enhance the existing root system, and allow the tree to be more competitive
  • Rhizosphere bacteria are beneficial bacteria that break down organic matter and promote nutrient absorption and tree immunity systems
  • Nutrient application delivered 6-12 inches beneath the turf throughout the drip line to ensure balanced absorption and reduced turf competition

Post-Drought Tree Care for North Texas

The drought may be over, but the stress on your trees isn’t. After prolonged heat and drought, trees can continue showing signs of stress well after rainfall returns. Fine-root loss, compacted soil, reduced water absorption,…

Popular Questions

Mulch is great for covering exposed roots and providing nutrients and insulation for the tree. Do not remove any exposed roots. Doing so will kill your tree.

Not exactly.

Vertical Mulching helps improve drainage and can be an additional tool in mitigating the opportunistic oomycete called Phytophthora. Poor drainage can lead to this water mold infecting many plants that sit in water logged soils.

No treatment will help your tree with Phytophthora if the site isn’t managed and drainage issues have been remedied. Once the site has been addressed and if there is a positive test result from a lab, and if infection has been detected two years in a row, our Tree Health Care technicians administer a fungal management treatment under direction from an ISA Certified Arborist. Depending on the species of the tree or if fungal treatment isn’t an option we recommend starting a Tree Health Care plan with basic or holistic fertilizer to maximize the potential recovery.

Fungal treatments begin in the Spring with three applications, 14-21 days apart.

Correcting soil compaction requires a combination of physical loosening of the soil (aeration), biological improvement (microorganisms), continued protection.

Tree roots require loose, oxygen-rich soil to survive. Through soil aeration, increased microbial activity, and protection, we can help save valuable trees from long term decline due to compaction.

Oak wilt is an infectious disease caused by a fungus (Bretziella fagacearum*). All oaks (genus Quercus) are susceptible to oak wilt, but different species may react differently to the fungus. Oak wilt is a vascular disease, and infects the whole tree, even if only one part is symptomatic. As the fungus spread through the tree, it blocks the transmission of nutrients to the canopy, causing the characteristic “wilt,” or dieback. Learn more about oak wilt prevention here.

Short answer: “yes.” Synthetic grass will eventually kill your tree. To understand why read our blog here.

Unfortunately, most turf grass is not bred to live in harmony with large trees, and trees often find themselves in competition for resources with surrounding grass. In many cases, homeowners have to choose between uniform turf coverage and tree health. To understand why read our blog here.

Photos documenting before and after tree health care plans were implemented.

STRESSED LIVE OAK | BEFORE

This live oak is showing signs of stress after construction was completed at the property. Photo of this tree was taken in November 2019 before a Stressed Tree Care Plan was implemented.

STRESSED LIVE OAK | AFTER

This photo was taken in August 2025 after 5 years of being on a Stressed Tree Care Plan.

CHLOROTIC RED OAK | BEFORE

Image of red oak suffering from chlorosis (deficiency in chlorophyll). Photo is from May 2025. Chlorophyll is an essential part of a tree’s nutrient-gathering process, it helps trees produce energy through photosynthesis. When a tree is chlorotic in North Texas it is a sign that there is an iron deficiency.

CHLOROTIC RED OAK | AFTER

This image of the same tree that had chlorosis is from April 2026 post intervention. Verdur injections were given at the root flare to bypass the roots so the iron can go directly into the vascular system to help bring back green pigmentation to the tree for photosynthesis. In addition the tree is on a tree health care plan receiving fertilization to improve overall health. We inject Verdur every 3 years with amazing results, extending the tree’s life significantly.

Before photo of a stressed magnolia before intervention of a tree health care plan.
STRESSED MAGNOLIA | BEFORE

This magnolia tree is one of many that were in decline on a single property. This photo is from April 15, 2024 prior to the tree receiving a tree health care plan.

After photo of a stressed magnolia with great improvement after a tree health care plan was implemented.
STRESSED MAGNOLIA | AFTER

This after photo was taken June 27, 2024 of a magnolia tree after receiving multiple interventions to improve its health. In addition to a tree health care plan of a deep root fertilization with Biopack plus and Sea3 applied by our TDA licensed technician the owner also fixed the irrigation and cleared the root flare. The difference in health is beautiful.

From the bidding process, till the crew wrapped up this was a wonderful experience. The crew they sent out was incredible. They were knowledgeable, worked so hard and were so professional. This was not an easy job. It was a 60 year old live oak that had grown up against our home over time where 80% of its branches hung over our 1945 home. Not one single branch ever touched our roof with their amazing technique and pulley system. I highly recommend them without reservation.
Response from the owner:We are thrilled that you had a great experience with our entire team and that our crew was able to trim your tree with care. Safety with efficiency is a priority in our tree work. We look forward to assisting you again in the future. We ❤️🌳 and happy customers!

We found Texas Tree Surgeons from a neighbor's recommendation. We were needing a professional evaluation of our trees and guidance on helping them be their healthiest, especially with the harsh Texas and City elements that they endure. Sage, the arborist we were assigned was the utmost professional and evaluated our situation and gave us recommendations which we are working through and we are already starting to see results.
Response from the owner:Neighbors recommendations are the best. We are so happy they referred us and that Sage gave you great suggestions that are already showing positive results. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We ❤️🌳 and happy customers!.

What a great tree service! I just had them trim my large oak tree that had become very overgrown. They did a spectacular job, with this tree that might be 30 feet tall. Very thorough job, and the tree is shaped beautifully now. I have had many tree services, this is the first where I was actually impressed by the beauty afterwards. They were very informative before and after, really dedicated to education. And the price seemed very reasonable. We are very happy; well deserved 5 stars!
Response from the owner:Thanks so much for the review and for using us to care for your trees! We love trees and our community in North Texas!

I have a large oak tree in the front and one in the back, and I had concerns that the branches were growing closer to my roof and fence. I contacted Texas Tree Surgeons because I wanted an arborist to evaluate what was necessary to trim my trees. Kay came out 2 days later, discussed what was needed, and provided me with a quote. It was a simple trim, but she listened to my concerns, and after I approved the work, they completed the job quickly! I had the option to pay online, which was very convenient. Overall, I had a great experience with them and will continue to use them in the future!
Response from the owner:Kay is a great knowledgable arborist who is passionate about trees. Our arborists deeply care about doing what's best for trees by taking the time to assess and offering recommendations based off your concerns so you can make an informed choice. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We look forward to see you and your trees in the future. We ❤️🌳 and happy customers!
